That day was the day before Ulto Rath in the month of Ashadh (the exact date is unknown, but estimated to be 350 years ago), locally known as Ashadhe Nabami. Shrimat Raghunandan Goswami brought the idol of Shree Shree Radha Gokulchand from Guptipara by boat and established Him at our Madhyam Goswami house in Santipur.

Later, the Zamindar of “Ja” village in the Purba Bardhaman district built the current Atchala temple, where both Shree Shree Gokulchand and Shree Shree Radha Binod were installed. From that time onwards, the terracotta temple of Advaita Mahaprabhu was gradually built, followed by the installation of Shree Shree Ramchandra, Shree Shree Nitai Gour, and Shree Shree Jagannath.

A permanent temple for the deity was built. Along with it, a Durga temple, a five arched Rasmancha (a platform for the Ras festival), and a Nahabat Khana (musicians’ gallery) were constructed. Sri Sri Gokulchand Thakur has his own Dolmancha, where the idol of Sri Sri Gokulchand is brought on the day of Dolyatra (Holi) for devotees to see.

Additionally, in Sridham Shantipur—a place blessed by the footprints of Sri Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Sri Sri Advaita Mahaprabhu—devotees of Krishna, Advaita, and Chaitanya remain engaged in the Lord’s service through various festivals throughout the year (often described as “thirteen festivals in twelve months”).
